Totally Kawaii!

stick 'em on guitars!

An impromptu trip to Wynwood the other day yielded some interesting results. I discovered that right in the heart of Wynwood, amid all the contemporary art galleries and oh-so-serious artists, lies it's antitheses: Kawaii Universe. "Kawaii" means cute in Japanese, and this place is like a sticker-laden mecca of cutesy. The stickers are created by an artist named Valentina, and are all her original illustrations that are printed on special hand-cut stickers that don't leave any residue when removed. She was on hand during our recent visit and exhibited what I could only describe as an insane, unbridled enthusiasm and energy that must stem from both her fruitarian diet (only things that fall off trees) and her surroundings of candy-colored cuteness and endless hours of Japanese girl-pop that pipes through the speakers.

Regardless of your personal tastes, this is an excellent place to bring your kids, nephews or nieces as a reward for staying calm and quiet on gallery night for a glitter tattoo and a sticker or too.

Kawaii madness!
